Replace Cement Board Siding

Repair or patching fiber cement board siding dents chips cracks and other minor surface damage in james hardie siding and trim products can be filled with cementitious patching compound.
Replace cement board siding. Watch this graphic depiction of the removal and replacement of hardboard siding. Nail straight down on the replacement board in order to hit studs. Put on protective eyewear and a face mask. Be sure to nail into the existing holes on the adjacent siding.
Fill in the nail holes. Cut the fiber cement siding to length wear approved dust protection. Face nail the top piece of fiber cement siding through the old siding. Remove any nails from the top piece of good siding.
Refer to manufacturer recommendations for products that are compatible with fiber cement. To remove and replace damaged siding. This will allow you to remove the nails without damaging the top piece of siding. Work your way down the board prying the bottom edge up and loosening the nails.
Take the replacement board fit it in place image 2 and nail it in with a hammer using galvanized nails. Then using a pry bar gently lift the bottom edge of the overlapping siding. However even this stuff isn t impervious to the test of time and the forces of nature so you might find yourself needing to give your siding a little sprucing and repair from time to time.
