Repairing Screen Door Hinge

A screwdriver or a battery drill is all you need to replace most hinges.

Repairing screen door hinge. Open the door wide and insert a wedge under the bottom outside corner to level it. When the door is swung open the loose screws pull out of the threaded mounting holes. Screw through the middle hole and redrill the top screw hole at a slight angle so the screw hits solid wood.

Unlike wooden doors steel doors require a different approach to repair hinge screws that are pulled out of the door. If the door has a large hinge with four screw holes just drive 3 in. If you have a centering hinge drill use the hinge as a template and the finish repair will be better than new and last for years. The screw holes where the hinge or hinges are loose need to be repaired. Replacing screen door hinges will only take a few minutes per hinge as long as you have the right ones. Fix it the right way not the wrong way.
