Repair A Gutter Hole
Well if you have a hole in your gutter it would be like having a giant hole on the road it will prevent the proper functioning of the system which is very bad in the long term.
Repair a gutter hole. A waterproof sealing product such as ge clear gutter caulk available on amazon is easy to use. Gutter repair patches are made of rubberized asphalt and are typically around 4 by 6 in 10 by 15 cm in size. Insert the drop outlet in the hole and fasten the new downspout with sheet metal screws. Once the hole is clean and dry spread roofing cement around the edges of the hole and apply a patch of appropriately sized metal flashing.
3 stick the patch over the hole to complete the repair. Press over the flashing with your fingers to hold it in place. Clean around the damaged area with a brush and warm soapy water to remove more stubborn. Make sure to seal the drop outlet to the gutter with seam sealer.
Patch large holes with flashing and roofing cement. Don t worry this type of gutter repair is quite simple it requires mostly a metal patch and some roofing cement. Bend the strip to fit and embed the flashing in the cement. Simply squeeze into cracks and holes then apply a further coating around the entire gutter joint.
If the holes are larger than nail holes use tin snips to cut a strip of flashing the same amterial as the gutter wide enough to fill the area. Often aluminum guttering will start to leak from. Apply plastic roofing cement over small holes. Cut out a small square or rectangle of flashing with your tin snips then center it over the hole. First use a stiff wire brush to remove any rust or corrosion from the hole and the surrounding area. Feather the roofing cement out on the surrounding area to flatten any steep edges.
Squeeze a line of roofing cement around the edge of the hole. You can use the same process for repairing holes in both steel and aluminum gutters.
