Renault Megane Electric Roof Problems

Ive recently just bought a 1998 renault megane convertible and i dont have a manual for the car basically the roof wont come down i get a beeping sound when i press the button and thats it now ive checked the fluid and that seems fine and was just wondering has anyone had this problem and whats the likely fault thanks.
