Remove Sliding Door Panel

Step 2 lift the sliding door panel out.

Remove sliding door panel. This video shows you how to take apart sliding glass doors. Sliding patio doors have two separate units namely the sliding door panel and the stationary panel. Removing a fixed sliding glass door panel is primarily done for one of two reasons. To remove a sliding screen door find the screws at the bottom corners and unscrew them with a screwdriver.

Next carefully lift the door up at a slight angle to remove the bottom rollers from the track. Remove the outside closet door by first sliding the door to the center of the track. On most sliding doors there is a track that the door fits into and it rides backwards and forwards on this track. The most common reason is damage to the glass.

Then use your screwdriver to unscrew the head stop located at the top of the door frame. In addition at the base of the door are rollers. Every sliding glass door has adjustment screws that hold the rollers of the door in place. The access to these screws can be found at the bottom of the door or on the side panel on opposite.

Then angle the door towards you and pull gently detaching the door from its top track. 4 removing the sliding door before removing the door slide it to the point in the track where you see an indent. In order to remove the sliding one effectively lift it upwards into the upper track and ask a helper to push the bottom gently and carefully toward you. There are many reasons you may need to remove a sliding glass door including repairing or replacing panes restoring the proper slide or moving large objects like furniture.

Once this is complete repeat the process with the inside closet door. Remove the screws that hold the fixed door in place in the sliding door tracks. Pull the door up until you can see the bottom wheels on either side. A second common reason for removing the panel is to replace the entire sliding glass door unit.

One of the first things to do is to remove the actual sliding panels themselves to get rid of the weight and make it easier to do the job.
