Remove Old Front Door Lock

Some trim may even twist off by hand.
Remove old front door lock. A paperclip or small pin. Start by using your phillips head screwdriver to remove any visible screws from the interior side of the door. If your knob has a pinhole or small slot opening use a flathead screwdriver to push it inward. Insert the new spring.
Pry the trim from around the handle or lever using a flat screwdriver. In just three quick steps you can remove an existing cylinder lock for re keying or replacement. The screws may be obscured by the door handle so you may need to turn the handle to reach the screws. Remove these screws then pull the two halves of the lock apart to remove them from the door.
Begin by holding the door knob securely in place. Using a philips head screwdriver turn counterclockwise to unscrew a knob with standard hex head screws. This was a keyed door lever lock but i mention how to do the same with the sta. First remove the old door lock by unscrewing the doorknob on the inside of the door.
Examine the shank of the doorknob for a narrow slit when there are no visible mounting screws on the faceplate. This is showing how you can get your lock apart when you don t see any screws. On most modular through the door knob sets the screws. Undo the two mounting screws holding the doorknob in place.
These are the screws that hold the lock and the door together.
